  • The origins of this fraternity dates to its founding on March 17, 1906 at Miami of Ohio.  It expanded to other universities in Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois in the following years.

  • On March 9, 1916, the Miami chapter officially adopted the name Phi Kappa Tau as the Alpha chapter of the organization.

  • Thirty two years later, the Beta Theta chapter was installed at the University of Kansas, on November 19, 1948. Beta Theta became the fifty-sixth member of Phi Kappa Tau.

  • While the Beta Theta chapter left the University of Kansas twice over the years, it returned each time continuing its mission to champion a lifelong commitment to brotherhood, learning, ethical leadership and exemplary character
