Graduate Council (GC)

Two councils make up the chapter.  The Graduate Council (GC) consists of all members having graduated in good standing.  The Executive Committee consisting of the President, Treasurer and Secretary lead the council including it's committees.

The purpose of the GC is to promote life long brotherhood among graduated members and support the Resident Council (RC).  If you are interested in supporting the chapter by working with fellow alumni, the GC is the place to be!  Contact any of the Exec members to find out how to get started.

Life is tough!  Let's reconnect over shared brotherhood and leverage these relationships to benefit those around us.  Regardless of whether your interest lies with working with fellow alumni or undergrads, you can make a difference.

The chapter has ambitious goals and your financial support is critical in helping them realize their mission!  Some needs are large and “one time” while others are ongoing.  Whether you are in a position to make a large tax-deductible donation or small monthly payments, I encourage you to find a meaningful way to give.

We’d like to keep you informed about upcoming alumni events and even wish you a happy birthday but that only works when we can find you! Please take five minutes to ensure your contact information is correct. If you have any problems, contact me!  Thank you!

Chapter Fundraising Campaigns

The Graduate Council is actively fundraising to:

  • award academic scholarships to members with a 3.0 GPA or higher,

  • reimburse travel expenses for officers traveling to leadership conferences or members volunteering at a SeriousFun camp,

  • sponsoring resident council activities including brotherhood dinners and recruitment events,

  • sponsoring graduate council activities including homecoming

If we can grow our account at the foundation to $50,000 or more we can endow it and perpetually fund the chapter's educational fees to the National fraternity, reducing the membership cost to undergraduates.

If we can grow our chapter house fund to $350,000, we'll have a sizable down payment on a future chapter house.

Fundraising

Donate directly to the Graduate Council to support Beta Theta:

Services provided by the GC

The Beta Theta Graduate Council supports the chapter Resident Council financially. Each year we award $5,000 in chapter academic scholarships, reimburse $1,000 in leadership conference travel, and sponsor and run a chapter workshop. We have a dozen or so alumni volunteers working to provide leadership to the chapter, plan fun alumni events and donate generously to the SeriousFun.

Scholarships

We offer academic scholarships to our members to support their educational pursuits. These scholarships are awarded based on academic achievements and contributions to the chapter. By investing in our members' education, we aim to empower them to achieve their goals and succeed in their chosen fields.

Leadership Conferences

We provide financial support for our members to attend leadership conferences. These conferences offer valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth, allowing our members to develop essential skills and network with other leaders in their respective fields. By investing in their conference travel, we aim to foster leadership development and empower our members to make a positive impact in their communities.

Chapter Workshops & Events

We organize and host chapter workshops and other events to enhance the skills and knowledge of our members. These workshops cover a wide range of topics, including leadership development, communication skills, and personal growth. By providing these workshops, we aim to promote brotherhood, and equip our members with the tools they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally.

Larry Washburn, '88

I really enjoyed my time as graduate council president. Working with other alumni during the Covid years to keep the brotherhood spirit going was a challenge but rewarding at the same time. We had some great homecoming years and it was rewarding to be on the hill and to see all who came back! The undergraduate’s enthusiasm was and is contagious and I look forward to seeing what happens!
